Hall of Fame No. 24

Goalscorer extraordinaire joins the Hall of Fame

Liam Harrold (Striker,  2001 - 04)

When it comes to prodigious scoring feats for Boston Town over the years, there's one that really is in a league of its own.

The mercurial striker Liam Harrold remains the only player for our club ever to have scored a double hat-trick - not even legendary marksmen like Carl Smaller or Gary Bull can match that.

Mel Smith once managed five back in 1965-66 but that's the closest anyone else has ever come.

Liam's achievement came on 17 November 2001 when the Poachers travelled to Kempston Rovers and thumped them 8-0. Jason Vaughan and Rob Speechley scored the other two goals to add to Liam's half dozen.

It was a golden era for goalscoring feats - Liam's strike partner Jamie Graham netted four in a game later that same season in a 7-0 win against Bugbrooke.

Other strikers down the years who've also netted four in a game include Colin Smith in Boston FC's very first season, Bully (famously on his debut for the club), Danny Matson in 2004 and most recently Josh Ford in a 5-4 win against Irchester in April 2013.

That six-goal haul was far from a flash in the pan for Liam - a larger than life character with a variety of peroxide-flecked haircuts over the years, he terrorised opposition defences wherever he went.
