Boston Town 4, Oadby 2

Poachers earn three points as new league season starts

Mark Angel's side got their league season off to a winning start in convincing style.

After bolstering their squad with the experience of Terry Fleming and Tony Battersby, it was the young guns Jack Wightwick and Aaron Eyett who got two of the goals.

Wightwick opened the scoring after 38 minutes of end-to-end fast flowing football. The bell fall to Beck in the area, who fed it to Jack to fire home.

Ben Stephens replied for the visitors a minute later to make it 1-1 at the interval.

On 52 minutes, a typical move down the wing by Wightwick saw him beat two defenders and cross for Beck to fire a bullet header home for a 2-1 lead.

Again Oadby equalised almost immediately, this time through Sam Hollis - leaving Boston unhappily appealing for an offside and a foul in the build-up.

This only helped to spur on Boston and they regained the lead on 62 minutes through Simon Ashton's header from an Eyett corner.

And the match was put out of sight when Eyett picked the ball up just inside the Oadby half and waltzed his way through the visiting defence, rounded the keeper and slotted the ball home.

Town: Doughty, Lambley, Parker, Jackson, Ashton, Fleming (Ford), Eyett, Borbely (Kennedy), Beck, Battersby, Wightwick (Basker); sub not used: Clare
