It`s tight at the top

Boston Town are third in congested league table

The Poachers remain level on points at the top of the United Counties League table despite Tuesday's defeat to Holbeach.

Leaders Yaxley were thumped 4-0 by Sleaford, who take over as suprise leaders, with Boston slipping to third.

The striking thing about the early table is just how bunched up the pacesetters are - just three points separate the top 13 clubs.

It bodes well for a close-fought title race this season, with hopefully a larger number of sides in with a shout of honours.

That contrasts with some recent campaigns which have been overly dominated by big spenders like King's Lynn, AFC Rushden & Diamonds, Spalding, St Neots and Daventry.
