League cup exit for the Poachers

Boston Town's young team were outgunned by high-riding Cogenhoe in the league cup.

Dan Thomason put the Cooks in front after 11 minutes - and it was that single early goal that separated the teams at the break.

But four goals in ten second half minutes effectively put the tie to bed.

Sam Heavey doubled the home side's advantage with a penalty after 62 minutes but two minutes later Jordan Nuttell latched onto a through-ball, rounded the keeper and slid it home on what might prove to be his last game in Poachers colours.

Respite was short-lived though as Luke Emery made it 3-1 five minutes later with Tom McGowan adding a fourth after 72 minutes.

New signing James Playford came on as sub for his debut before Matt Kennedy slotted a consolation in added time.

Town: Drury,  Lowe, Warren, Ashton, Jackson,  Mitchell, Lambley (Playford), Charlesworth, Nuttell, Woods, Kennedy.
