Town lose on penalties after staging sensational fightback

Holbeach 4, Boston Town 4

The Poachers almost pulled off one of the most staggering comebacks in county cup history.

Trailing 4-0 to UCL leaders Holbeach, they rallied incredibly - scoring three times in seven minutes at one stage.

Matt Kennedy netted twice with further goals coming from Jack Wightwick and Craig Mitchell as Boston ended the game on top.

The final whistle went at 4-4 but it was Holbeach who progressed on penalties.

Wightwick and boss Dan Barrett converted their efforts but home keeper Ricky Lovelace foiled Kennedy and Courtney Warren missed the target to put Holbeach through 4-2.

But the manner of Boston's fightback was heartening - as was the sight of James Petronzio back in the line-up after suffering a nasty injury in pre-season.

Town: Drury, Lowe, Warren, Mitchell, Jackson, Lambley (Barrett), Wightwick, Borbely (Ashton), Burrows, Petronzio, Kennedy.
