Second-half goal blitz gives Town fans an early Christmas present

Harborough 1, Boston Town 5

The Poachers registered their biggest win of the season as they thumped lowly Harborough 5-1.

Dan Barrett's men responded in style to his call for them to show less respect for the opposition..

But at 5-0 up with seven minutes remaining, he'll be frustrated that they failed to hang on to what would have been their first clean sheet since August and only their third of the entire campaign.

However, it was a thoroughly satisfying victory bearing in mind Harborough had beaten Sleaford 4-1 the previous week.

Jack Wightwick netted the first half opener but it was a three-goal salvo in the space of 11 minutes early in the second period that sealed the game - Renzie Lobendhan grabbing a brace and Gary Cross one.

Wightwick completed the rout before the hosts scored a consolation.

Town: R Drury, Lowe, Jackson, Mitchell, Wood, S Ashton, Playford (Cross), Charlesworth, Lorbely (Beck), Lobendhan (Lambley), Wightwick.
