Poachers claim a notable win over local rivals

A spectacular goal by Jack Wightwick set the Poachers on course for  a famous victory against their Lincolnshire rivals.

Defeat for Holbeach - their first in the league since the opening day of the season - was a jolt to their title ambitions.

Boston's opener was a stunning a 25 yard chip from Wightwick who cut in from the left after 17 minutes and found the top corner for his 13th goal of the campaign.

The hosts exerted plenty of pressure but found visiting keeper James Doughty in fine form.

Town went 2-0 up on the hour when Aaron Eyett's deep cross from the right was sent back into the penalty area by Richard Ford and turned into the net by Simon Ashton for his third goal of the season.

A 70th minute goal for Holbeach sub Gary King set up a frantic finale.

Ex-Poachers Nick Jackson and Ollie Pinner both missed good chances before Pinner was sent off late on to see the Tigers finish with only ten men.

Town: Doughty, Lambley (Borbely), Field, Fleming (Parnell), Wood, S Ashton, Eyett, Ford, Beck, Nuttell (Moore-Papworth), Wightwick.
