Poachers slip to another defeat

Wisbech 3, Boston Town 2

Boston Town's struggle for league points continued as they came up just short against fen rivals Wisbech.

It was a brave performance from the visitors, who played the last 40 minutes with only 10 men after Michael Wood was red-carded when deemed to be last man as he committed a foul.

The Poachers started well, with Jordan Nuttell narrowly failing to convert an early header before Alex Beck turned home a cross from the returning Fraser Bayliss to give them the lead.

But a triple blast by the hosts saw them go in at the interval 3-1 up.

The visitors were further hampered when James Doughty was forced off at the interval because of a blow to the head and had to be replaced between the sticks by Danny Stevens.

Beck added a second to give Boston the perfect start to the second half by pulling it back to 3-2 but Wood's dismissal was a big blow.

Young winger Bayliss was narrowly adjudged to be offside when one on one with the Wisbech keeper but Boston couldn't get the all-important equaliser.

Town: Doughty (Fleming), Stevens, Field, Ford, Wood, S Ashton, Dykes, Bayliss, Beck, Nuttell (Parnell), Parker
