Poachers produce stirring fightback to claim three points

Boston Town 3, Newport Pagnell 2

A dramatic late winner saw Boston Town earn a first vital victory under Jason Callaby.

Fraser Bayliss, Jordan Nuttell and top scorer Alex Beck all returned to the starting line-up after missing the midweek defeat at Yaxley.

With Jason Field back on the bench as well, together with Lori Borbely, Grant Butler and Callaby, it was a much stronger looking squad than inrecent weeks.

So it was no surprise when Simon Ashton's powerful header from a free-kick gave them the lead after 31 minutes.

But it looked like Boston's good work in the first half would be in vain when two goals midway through the second period put the visitors 2-1 ahead.

Field responded with an equaliser soon afterwards before Bayliss claimed a winner in the 88th minute.

It was the Poachers' first league win for two months and with Oadby, Wellingborough and Northampton Sileby Rangers all losing, it eased them 10 points clear again of second-from-bottom Sileby.

Town: Doughty, Fleming, Parker, Bayliss, Wood, S Ashton, Dykes (Borbely), Ford, Beck, Nuttell, Parnell (Field), unused subs: Butler, Callaby
