Poachers earn valuable point against form side

Boston Town 2, Eynesbury 2

The returning Jamie Elston helped the Poachers pick up a precious point against one of the form teams of the league.

Lord Borbely gave Boston a second minute lead before Elston - who made half a dozen appearances for the club at the end of last season - lifted the ball over the advancing keper to make it 2-0 after 18 minutes.

But Eynesbury have lost only once in 15 league games stretching back to November so it was no surprise that they pulled one back eight mintues before half-time.

And Jason Callaby's side were desperately unlucky to find themselves level just five mintues later when a Terry Fleming clearance rebounded off a visiting striker and straight into the net.

Boston fought hard after the interval to preserve their point - made all the more valuable in view of Northampton Sileby Rangers' 5-0 thumping of whipping boys Huntingdon. Town are now seven points clear of second-bottom Sileby.

It was another impressive showing given their reshuffled line-up - with Jack Dykes on Lincs Under 18s duty, Michael Wood suspended and Craig Parker and Jason Field also missing, the Poachers had to drop Jordan Nuttell back into defence.

Town: Doughty, Butler, Nuttell, S Ashton, Fleming, Bayliss, Ford, Reeson, Elston, Borbely (J Ashton), Beck
