Poachers fight back to earn vital point

Boston Town 2, Cogenhoe 2

Boston Town moved up to 16th after their patched-up side earned a topsy-turvy draw.

Gary Frost was without the suspended Craig Parker and injured Michael Wood and Jordan Nuttell as well as the unavailable Tom Charlesworth and Matt Kennedy.

But Lee Orrey, making yet another return to the DWB Stadium, gave the Poachers a perfect start when he slid home from close range after some excellent work by Curtis Revell on the right after just nine minutes.

Cogenhoe have strengthened their squad in recent weeks, however, and came back strongly in a sometimes tempestuous first half to level after some sloppy home defending.

Things looked bleak for Boston when the visitors went 2-1 up early in the second half.

But the home side rolled up their sleeves and earned a richly-deserved point, driven on by the combative Lori Borbely, who was able to complete a full 90 minutes on his welcome return from injury. Revell scored the equaliser after 65 minutes with a neat flicked finish to convert a pinpoint cross from the left after a powerful surge forward by Fraser Bayliss.

Bayliss was pushed up front as Lucas Sparrow replaced Orrey and the fresh legs certainly did the trick, with Town finishing the game strongly. Janson Pinner was also hugely impressive at right back and would have won the Man of the Match nod from many admiring onlookers.

Jordan Smith linked up well with Bayliss and Revell - and the latter had a golden chance to win the game but was denied by the Cogenhoe keeper.

Town: J Lambley, J Pinner, Turner, L Lambley, Ashton, Ford, Smith, Borbely, Orrey (Sparrow), Revell, Bayliss
