Poachers into county cup semi-final

Boston Town 3, Holbeach 2

Boston Town battled their way to a morale-boosting first win in 15 games in this feisty local derby.

Jordan Nuttell popped up with the all-important winner five minutes from time to book the Poachers' place in the Lincs Senior Trophy semi-finals.

Earlier, Richard Ford's powerful third minute header had given the hosts an ideal start.

And he set up a second midway through the first half, getting his head on another inswinging corner to give Michael Hardy the chance to stoop low and steer home.

A physical encounter threatened to boil over at times, particularly in the first half, but referee ian Ruddock did an excellent job keeping a lid on things.

The Tigers hauled themselves back into the tie when a Tommy Treacher shot came back off the underside of the bar but was judged to have crossed the line.

Boston then dug deep and enjoyed a period of dominance - Nuttell hitting the post and Curtis Revell forcing Ricky Drury into an excellent save.

But Josh Ford's deflected shot saw Holbeach level against the run of play with less then 10 minutes to go.

With the quarter-final seemingly heading for penalties, there was one final twist as Revell marauded down the right and unleashed a shot which Ricky Drury could only parry, leaving the ever-alert Nuttell to pounce for the winner.
