Poachers succumb to two first half goals

Boston Town 0, Shepshed Dynamo 2

Boston Town were toothless in front of goal as Shepshed earned all three points from this ill-tempered affair.

Tattershall Road was treated to the rare sight of a boisterous away following, who kept up a constant chorus of songs throughout the game.

They were rewarded after only four minutes when sloppy defending allowed Shepshed to take a 1-0 lead.

Dynamo rarely looked like adding to their lead until a needless penalty was given away ten minuted before the break.

The Poachers had every right to feel hard done by to be 2-0 down at the break. They had enjoyed plenty of the ball although in truth they had fashioned few genuine chances.

Shepshed went down to ten men soon after the break, referee Brian O'Sullivan immediately brandishing a straight red for a kick at Lori Borbely as he lay on the ground.

But despite their numerical advantage, the Poachers fired blanks for a second Saturday in a row.

Ian Dunn added more focus to the attack as he threw himself into the fray but he ended the game visibily frustrated. Boston had two confident penalty appeals turned down, one for an apparent trip on Borbely and one for handball. Mark Foster also hit the back of the net with a peach of a shot only to find the referee's whistle had already gone.

To add to the unsatisfactory nature of the afternoon, Mr O'Sullivan suffered a calf injury and was unable to finish refereeing duties, leaving a Shepshed official to run the line.

Town: Ashton, Leggett, Pinner, Foster, Wilson, Hocking (Dunn), Stocks (Maltby), Borbely, Smith (Clancy), Ford, Heward.
