Match report by Tom Carter

A double from Fraser Bayliss and Tom Garrick saw the Poachers move up to 8th with a 4-0 win over Wellingborough Town.
After an outstanding 7-0 win away at Pinchbeck United on Wednesday night, Boston Town were looking for another win on Saturday afternoon. This time they hosted Wellingborough Town who were 6th going into the game with the Poachers being 11th.
The game started off lively for Boston Town as they dominated play like they did for the majority of the first half. 6 minutes in, a cross from a corner saw Corey Cuncliffe head over and seconds later Wellingborough were let through the Boston defence but the shot didn’t bother Travis Portas in goal as it went wide. A free kick in the 15th minute from Riley Thompson met the feet of the unmarked Boston captain Lee Beeson who played the ball into the middle. Richard Ford left the ball for Fraser Bayliss whose shot was deflected into the net, 1-0!
A second goal looked likely for Boston Town before half time as they continued to create chances and causing trouble for the Wellingborough defence. Halfway through the first half, Lee Beeson delivered a splendid ball into the middle which came to Tom Garrick who shot the ball expecting an easy tap-in but ended up causing the Wellingborough keeper to make a keeper to make a superb save. Another chance for the Poachers came when Fraser Bayliss had a crack on goal from long range but his shot ended up going over the bar. At half-time, Boston led 1-0.
The Poachers made a perfect start to the second half when 2 minutes into it, a smashing solo run by Bayliss saw him shoot into into the bottom right hand corner to make it 2-0. That made it 5 goals in 2 games for Boston’s number 8. Travis Portas had quite a bit to do during the second period of the game with Wellingborough playing a lot better. He made a crucial save when Wellingborough took on a shot in the 58th minute. Boston still led 2-0 with the game just about to go into the last 20 minutes but when Fraser Bayliss was looking for his 3rd goal, his shot was saved which saw some scrappy play between Luke White and a Wellingborough defender happen afterwards. The ball eventually fell to Tom Garrick who knocked the ball home for a 3rd goal for Boston Town.
Boston continued to make chances in the second half with Bayliss and Richard Ford both coming close to add a 4th but it wasn’t until near enough on the full time whistle when a 4th goal took place. Tom Garrick tapped the ball in for his 4th goal in 2 games. Full Time was Boston Town (Bayliss 2, Garrick 2) 4-0 Wellingborough Town.
Another 3 points for Boston Town which sees them now go into 8th place in the United Counties League Premier Division. They travel away to Anstey Nomads in the FA Vase 2nd Qualifying Round next Saturday (10th Oct) and their next home game is the following Tuesday (13th Oct) when they host Deeping Rangers. Kick Off is 19:45. Please come down and support the Poachers!
