A sublime Robert Raducan goal wasn't enough to stop runaway league leaders Daventry Town claiming a seventh consecutive win.

The Poachers fell behind early on as the game started unexpectedly in torrential rain.

But Gary Edgley's young side showed real application and determination to battle back into the contest.

Marcel Chipamaunga showed flashes of skill and Danny Horton was a commanding presence in the centre of midfield as Boston recovered from their shaky start.

Edgley replaced Harry Deane early on after he had been booked and looked in danger of being sent off - with substitute Ollie Pinner also being taken off after the break for similar reasons.

At half-time, the Poachers had shown they could hold their own against streetwise and in-form Daventry - however, they had rarely threatened the visitors' goal.

But they started the second period brightly and deserved their equaliser after 56 minutes. Chipamaunga's pace and trickery carved out an opening on  the right and as he pulled it back, Raducan was in the right place to sweep home a precision finish.

That provoked an immediate reaction from the away side and for a while they laid siege to the Boston goal. Travis Portas made some superb saves and the home defenders put their bodies on the line time after time but with just 10 minutes to go, Daventry finally snatched what would prove to be the winner.

Town: Portas, Lytvynets, Newman (Borbely), Moulds, Cunliffe, Horton, Yenibertiz, Chipamaunga, Raducan, Deane (Pinner (Turki)), Nichols
