After a 4-1 defeat at Harborough last weekend, Boston Town were looking to get back to winning ways. Despite a shaky start, the Poachers soon stepped up a gear. Fraser Bayliss went down after being fouled by a Kirby player. A penalty was awarded! Captain Danny Horton took the spot kick and scored straight down the middle.

After that, the game was very even between both teams. The only major thing that occurred was Kemal Yeniberitz coming off after a head injury. This was until the Kirby goalkeeper failed to catch the ball from a Boston cross, allowing Liam Tunstall double the Poachers’ lead to 2-0.

Half-time score: Boston Town 2-0 Kirby Muxloe

There wasn’t as much excitement in the second half but Kirby were piling on the pressure. This nearly got them a goal back when they won a penalty but Travis Portas made an outstanding save to keep the score at 2-0. Throughout the game, the Boston keeper kept the team in it and deservedly got himself a clean sheet.

Also in the second half, substitute Ollie Pinner got himself sent off after kicking the ball away while he was already on a yellow card.

The full time score at the DWB stadium was Boston Town 2-0 Kirby Muxloe. Horton and Tunstall the scorers for the Poachers.

The Boston United Show Man Of The Match: Goalkeeper Travis Portas because of his amazing saves during the game.
