Dennis Greene is the man to bring success to Boston Town
Paul Wilkinson has pledged financial backing for new Poachers boss Dennis Greene to help them achieve long-overdue success.
And the new club director had also unveiled ambitious plans off the pitch for Boston Town.
Wilkinson told the Boston Standard: “We’ve set a budget for next year that we think will make us competitive. We have wonderful sponsors but I will probably have to put my hand in my pocket as well.
“I want us to win the league. I want us to win a couple of promotions if we can. If it happens next season then that’s great. If not then we’ll have to wait a bit longer, there’s no immediate pressure.”
Wilkinson admits the new manager isn't everyone's cup of tea - as shown by the large number of negative comments on Boston Town's Twitter account following Tuesday's 8-0 drubbing at Yaxley.
He said: “Dennis is Dennis. He has his lovers and his haters. But I think he’ll do well. He has excellent contacts and his teams play exciting football.
“He likes playing young attacking players and I think that suits this league.”
Off the pitch Wilkinson, who is expected to take over as Boston Town chairman from Mick Vines at some point, wants to install a 3G pitch and build a raised viewing platform for directors.
DWB Timber Engineering has extended its sponsorship of the Tattershall Road stadium and the function room is to be renovated.
