Another narrow defeat to Poachers
Boston Town's punishing schedule took its toll as they succumbed to a narrow defeat.
Montel Dore scored the only goal of the game six minutes before the break.
The hosts, without the experienced midfield battlers Richard Ford and Ollie Pinner, fielded a particularly young line-up - and they enjoyed no luck in front of goal.
Lewis Scattergood crashed a header against the bar just after Cogenhoe took the lead and Cameron Johnson was denied when his effort looped agonisingly wide early in the second half.
On another day the visitors might have been down to ten men but Ryan Ansell - seemingly incensed by an earlier inicident involving Jordan Tate - was shown only yellow after he scythed down Fraser Bayliss.
The Poachers, who had also played on Tuesday night to try to catch up on their backlog of fixtures, threw on Jason Field for young Layton Maddison but were unable to claw back what would have been a deserved share of the spoils.
Cogenhoe have now won 11 and lost only one of their last 13 games - and entertain Dennis Greene's men on Saturday 5 May in their last fixture of the season.
