It was a derby game to forget for Boston Town as they lost 2-0 at home to local rivals Deeping Rangers.
Going into the game, Boston Town were in good form after a 7-0 win away at Pinchbeck a couple of weeks ago and then a 4-0 home win at home to Wellingborough Town. This time it was Deeping Rangers they played under the lights at the DWB Stadium.
Early on in the game Richard Ford blazed a shot way over the bar which was followed by a delay with a Deeping player down injured. 11 minutes in, Deeping swung a free kick and Boston goal-keeper Travis Portas got his hand on it but David Burton Jones scored the rebound and Deeping led 1-0.
Overall it was a poor first half from Boston Town. They almost went 2-0 down when Portas was fouled and Deeping got the ball and scored in an open net but the referee blew for a free kick going the Poacher’s way. Half Time was 1-0 to Deeping Rangers.
At the start of the second half, the Poachers started off as the better team with having plenty of chances. Luke White had a chance what got cleared and in the 55th minute, Corey Cuncliffe headed over from a corner. Town were playing a lot better but the final pass just wasn’t there for them.
15 minutes from time, Deeping got their 2nd goal with Lee Clarke slotting home from close range. Full Time was Boston Town 0-2 Deeping Rangers (Burton-Jones, Clarke)
It wasn’t the best the performance from the Poachers but they are back in action this Saturday (17th Oct) when they face Anstey Nomads away in a rearranged FA Vase tie before playing away to Rothwell Corinths on the Tuesday after (20th Oct). Then the following Saturday (24th Oct) Boston Town are back at home as they play Harborough Town. Please come down and support the Poachers.
