Boston Town needed to dig deep to claim three points against Desborough.
They showed resilience to hang on with 10 men after Jack Fixter was sent off for two yellow cards midway through the second half.
The Poachers dominated the first half and deservedly led 2-0 at the break.
Kyle Watkins broke the deadlock with a superb left-footed strike from 22 yards.
And an own goal doubled the hosts' lead just before the interval as a Desborough defender inadvertently lobbed his own keeper from an Alex Beck cross.
Harry Limb, Beck and Luke White were also denied by good goalkeeping.
Boss Gary Edgley said: "The boys stood strong and got the three points they deserved."
