Late penalty heartbreak for the Boston Town
A last-gasp penalty cruelly denied the Poachers what would have been a richly-deserved replay.
Jason Field was adamant he had chested away a goalbound shot right at the death - but referee Sarah Garrettl saw it otherwise.
Not only was Hyde's Matt Beadle able to score the winner from the resulting spot-kick but the disconsolate Boston Town skipper was shown the red card.
Field had been one of many Boston Town heroes who had given as good as they got all over the pitch and come so close to causing yet another upset.
It was a rumbustious FA Cup tie which left a crowd of 400 breathless.
Simon Ashton rammed home after just nine minutes to give the hosts a shock lead.
But Gary Frost's side were jolted when influential midfielder Ben Davison had to go off following a sickening aerial challenge which left him out cold for a short time.
Hyde defender Kyle Harrison was given a yellow card for that incident and then sent off just before the interval for a scything foul on Ollie Pinner.
But the visitors levelled shortly afterwards and could have gone ahead before the break but for two stunning saves by Harry Payne.
Danny Maddson sent the home fans into raptures again after 54 minutes, slotting home a penalty after the lively Fraser Bayliss was felled in the area.
But a penalty at the other end hauled Hyde back onto equal terms.
A tempestuous encounter looked set to go to a replay until that agonising climax.
The Poachers were rightly shattered by the result - but they thoroughly deserved the generous applause that accompaniedthme off the pitch at the final whistle.
