All football fans old enough to have seen Ray Clemence play will be sad to hear of his death aged 72.
But here in Lincolnshire we have every reason to have particularly fond memories of the former England goalkeeper.
Born in Skegness, Clemence first played professionally for Scunthorpe United. And as a teenager he came up against Boston FC in the early days of our club - as this cutting from the Lincolnshire Standard shows.
He'd started out playing for Skegness Town under the legendary George Raynor.
But even after signing for Scunthorpe, life was far from glamorous for young Clemence.
He had even taken a summer job stacking deckchairs on Skeggy beach before he got his big break when Bill Shankly signed him for Liverpool.
