Tom's choice Tom's choice

Aspiring sports journalist Tom Carter is continuing a fine tradition.

The Boston Grammar School student was asked to choose the Man of the Match for Saturday's FA Vase tie against Sleaford.

The award was sponsored by the Florida-based Museum of Arts and Sciences, whose executive director Andy Sandall also went to the school.

Tom chose Tom Garrick on behalf of Andy, who used to be programme editor and kitman for the club before moving to the USA.

Boston Grammar School has a long tradition of staff and students being involved with the Poachers.

Bob Don-Duncan was a teacher there when he first became manager in the mid 1970s. During his successful reign, students formed their own supporters' club and helped to raise money and edit the programme, together with Bob's fellow teacher Ron Abbott.

Among those early Boston Grammar School supporters was Simon Ashberry, who now edits this website and also the matchday programme. His brother Jez also edited the programme and was a reporter for the Boston Standard.
