The Poachers were left to rue missed chances as they drew with Heather St John’s on Saturday afternoon.
Going into the game, Town had won their last three league games – and in all competitions, in their last five, they had scored 13 goals and only conceded 1. This time they were hosts to Heather St John’s, who going into the game were bottom of the league after losing all 8 league games so far.
The home side controlled the game for the majority of the first half and the game did flow well with only Fraser Bayliss going down in opening stages which really stopped the momentum. However, there weren’t any real clear cut chances with both Bayliss and Harry Limb shooting well wide or striking the ball out of the ground.

Boston’s best 2 chances of the first 45 came through their 2 midfielders, Layton Maddison struck his shot well but the Heather keeper watched and caught the ball firmly. Elsewhere, Liam Adams’ shot caused the shot-stopper to come into action again, this time saving to his right. At half-time, the score was level at 0-0.
During the second half, the Poachers continued to dominate play with Heather creating very little. The only problem for Boston was that they still couldn’t hit the target. Richard Ford headed wide from a Lee Beeson corner and substitute Jordan Nuttell had his shot saved, followed by Limb hitting the side netting with the rebound.
Harry Limb hadn’t scored for Town since the August 2 against Deeping. The Poachers’ top scorer from last season had only netted 1 goal this campaign and was desperately looking to add to his short tally. In the 84th minute, Heather failed to clear their lines and Limb turned and struck home his shot to finally break the deadlock and end his goal drought. Surely it was 3 points to the Poachers?
Despite being bottom, Heather didn’t give in easily and managed to find an equaliser only 4minutes later. It was a weak goal to concede but Tawanda Mangondoza’s goal earned the away side their first point of the season. Full-time was 1-1.
Next, the Poachers face Sleaford Town in a blockbuster derby. It should be a cracker at the Mortgages For You Stadium on Tuesday 20 September.
