Eastwood 1, Poachers 2

Boston Town returned to winning ways – but made hard work of their victory.

Martyn Bunce’s side were dominant in the first half on Eastwood’s 3G pitch, but only had one goal to show for their efforts at the break.

Harry Limb was felled in the box after some nimble footwork and Lee Beeson converted from the spot for his 20th goal for the club.

Beeson whips in a dangerous free-kick

There were at least two more loud shouts for penalties in the opening 45 minutes as Boston’s attacking players repeatedly caused problems for the home defenders – but appeals were waved after when Liam Adams and Jordan Tate went down.

When Marshall Young powered home a header to double the Poachers’ lead after 52 minutes, it seemed like the visitors might cruise to the 3 points. But Eastwood responded with a goal of their own just 3 minutes later – and made life uncomfortable for Boston for the remainder of the game.

The Poachers failed to rediscover their fluency in blustery conditions and were happy enough in the end to see out a 2-1 win.
