Boxing Day woe

Boston Town’s long wait for a victory over Skegness Town goes on.

The last time the Poachers beat their rivals from along the coast was way back in 1983.

Admittedly, there was a 37-year gap when the two clubs didn’t meet – but the home fans were still itching for a Boxing Day win over the Lilywhites.

The festive excitement was deflated though as Skegness led 1-0 at the break.

Martyn Bunce threw on fit-again Harry Limb for the second half. ony for the visitors to double their lead on the hour.

Fraser Bayliss gave the hosts a lifeline after 77 minutes and they came close to equalising – only for Skegness to snatch two more goals at the death to give the final scoreline a thoroughly lopsided appearance.

Town: Portas, Wilson, Field (Waddington), Maddison, Ford, Beeson, Bayliss, Hobbins, J Nuttell (Limb), Young, J Tate; unused sub: L Tate
