Amazing away form

Boston Town head to Quorn at the weekend on the back of a remarkable run of away results.

Martyn Bunce’s side have won 7 of their last 8 games on the road.

That sequence is all the more striking given that it follows a barren spell of 13 away matches without a victory from November 2021 to August 2022.

Even more impressive is the fact that the Poachers have scored 4 in each of their last 3 away games. We’ve been delving through the books and, as far as we can tell, it’s only the third time in our history that we’ve managed that feat.

The first time was in early months of the club’s first season when a fledgling Boston FC won 4-0 away at Ross Group, 4-0 again at Lincoln CSOB and then 5-3 at Bourne Town Reserves between December 1964 and January 1965.

The only time Town have scored 4 goals in 4 consecutive away matches was in September and October 2006 when they drew 4-4 at Yaxley and then beat Appleby-Frodingham, 4-2, Cogenhoe 4-3 and Bourne Town 4-0.

All-time goalscorer Gary Bull was on target in two of those games.

Saturday’s trip to Quorn promises to be an extremely tough challenge. The Fox Hunters have won 6 in a row at home and are up to 3rd in the UCL Premier North table.
