Unbeaten in 10

Boston Town are unbeaten in 10 games as they travel to Pinchbeck United at the weekend.

Technically, the last time they managed a longer sequence without defeat was 14 years ago.

That was when they went 16 matches from November 2008 to February 2009 without losing – but that run did include a UCL Cup tie which saw them knocked out on penalties by Holbeach United.

It also included Lincs Senior Trophy victories against Deeping Rangers and Lincoln Moorlands Railway that propelled them to the final. They lifted the trophy a couple of months later by beating Winterton Rangers at Sincil Bank.

The Poachers celebrating their semi-final win at Brigg which started their unbeaten run

Coincidentally, the current run began with a 3-1 win at Brigg Town in the same competition – so could history be repeating itself?

If you’re a stickler and don’t count the 2008-09 run as being strictly unbeaten, you have to go back to 2007 for a longer undefeated stretch.

That was when the Poachers went a magnificent 20 games without losing from March to September. Remarkably, 19 of those were victories – and the other was a drawn UCL Cup Final which Boston won on penalties!
