Season review – part 2

Congratulations to Fraser Bayliss on finishing the season as our leading goalscorer.

His 2 goals against Leicester Nirvana in our final fixture brought his tally to exactly 20.

That’s an impressive goal haul for someone who doesn’t play as an out-and-out-striker!

It’s more than twice as many as Fraser’s ever scored before the Poachers – he previous best being 9 goals in 2017-18 and 2020-21.

He’s also passed Lori Borbely as the leading goalscorer in the current squad, his 62 goals now beating Lori’s 59.

The other current player to have scored a half century of goals for the club is Jordan Nuttell with 54. He was one of 3 other players to hit double figures this season – Liam Adams registering 13, with Nutts and Marshall Young getting 11 each.

It’s worth noting that this was the first time 4 different Boston Town players have scored at least 10 goals in a campaign since 2006-07. On that occasion, the quartet of hot shots were Gary Bull with the small matter of 57, followed by Paul Goodhand with 25, Jon Rowan (14) and Jordan’s dad Micky Nuttell (12).

Fraser is the 26th player in Boston Town’s history to score 20 goals in a season, with 8 of those achieving the landmark more than once – Bull the most with 5 times.

The last 7 times the milestone has been reached, it’s been a different player – preceding Fraser have been Harry Limb, Alex Beck, Josh Ford, Bull, Rowan and Goodhand.
