The Poachers could count themselves a little unlucky to come away empty-handed from their first game of the season.
Loughborough is one of the toughest grounds to visit in the United Counties League – so to go a goal down after only 3 minutes wasn’t an ideal start for Martyn Bunce’s side. Dylan Edwards claimed the goal for the hosts, although it appeared to come off a Boston head.
Marshall Young and Liam Adams then had chances to get the visitors back into the game, only for the Poachers to concede a soft-looking penalty after 29 minutes, which was converted by Edwards.

Harry Limb almost dragged the visitors back into just before half-time as his volley hit the cross bar. Fraser Bayliss pounced on the rebound but his effort was saved by home keeper Jake Alley.
Limb, Young and sub Lee Beeson all went close in the second half, forcing Alley into more excellent saves. The best of the lot was 2 minutes from the end when he kept out Bogdan Balint’s header to deny his a goal on his debut.
Town: Portas, Tate, Miller (Balint), Madison, Ford, Wilson, Adams, Hobbins, Limb (Nuttell), Young (Beeson), Bayliss. Subs not used: Slater, Borbely
