Boston Town 3, Kimberley MW 0

By Tom Carter

Martyn Bunce’s side made it 5 unbeaten at home in the league with a convincing 3-0 victory over Kimberley Miners Welfare.

After an unlucky defeat on the road against Melton Town on Monday, Boston were looking to bounce back against a team with only 2 wins so far.

The Poachers were the more fluid team in the opening exchanges but it didn’t stop Kimberley from creating the odd chance. Their number 9 let rip with his shot but it was comfortable for Travis Portas to knock away. After 27 minutes, Fraser Bayliss crossed the ball in after a missed opportunity and the ball eventually found Jordan Nuttell who headed home.

Town got a second before half time and this time it was the turn of skipper Lee Beeson to get on the score sheet. His effort might have been intended as a cross but ended up dipping over the visiting keeper and came off the post to double the Poachers’ lead.

Boston put the game to bed when the two substitutes Harry Limb and Marshall Young combined, with the latter making it 3-0.

The three points lifted Boston up to 6th in the United Counties League Premier North table.

They now face Lutterworth Town away in the league cup on Saturday (9 September) after their first full week off since the start of the season.

Travis Portas was named Man of the Match by sponsor S Brocklesby & Son.
