Sherwood Colliery 1, Poachers 0

For the third week in a row, Boston Town went down to a single-goal defeat.

But they made a real fist of it against all-conquering Sherwood Colliery, who had smashed 10 goals in their previous 2 home league games.

Martyn Bunce’s side gave as good as they got but the unbeaten league leaders condemned them to a third defeat in a row.

Will Norcross got the only goal of the match just before half-time.

Boston Town now have two important away cup ties. They’ll be keen to get back to winning ways on Wednesday (18 October) as they begin their defence of the Lincs Senior Trophy away to Bourne Town, who are unbeaten and top of United Counties League Division One.

Next Saturday (21 October), they travel to Midland League Division One side Ingles aiming for a place in the 2nd round proper of the FA Vase for the first time since 2012-13.

Town: Portas, Tate, Field, Hobbins, Worthington, Wilson, Beeson, Maddison, Limb, Adams, Bayliss; subs: Balint, Ford, Millar, Young, Borbely
