Ingles 2, Poachers 3

Boston Town enjoyed a second successive cup win on the road.

Two 2nd half goals from Liam Adams helped them through to the next round of the FA Vase.
Skipper Lee Beeson had put them 1-0 up with a pinpoint free-kick after 22 minutes.

Adams, who had gone close shortly before half-time, doubled their lead 3 minutes after the break after pouncing on a defensive mistake.

Ingles reduced the deficit from a Billy Snaith free-kick after 56 minutes. Shortly afterwards, Travis Portas had to tip a cross over the bar to prevent the Midland League side from equalising.

Marshall Young forced Ingles keeper Scott Handley into a smart point blank save after 73 minutes before Adams made it 3-1 with 11 minutes to go.

George Hobbins made a timely interception before releasing Adams, who was able to round the keeper for his 8th goal of the season.

Michael Tuck pulled one back again for the hosts after 83 minutes but the Poachers held on for a deserved win to follow their penalty shoot-out triumph at Bourne in the Lincs Senior Trophy.

Martyn Bunce’s side are now at home to Stone Old Alleynians in the 2nd round proper on Saturday 11 November. It’s the first time the club have reached this stage of the competition since 2012-13, when they were knocked out in the 3rd round by Gornal Athletic.

Boston Town’s Lincs Senior Trophy quarter-final against Pinchbeck United will be on Tuesday 21 November.
