Boston United preview

Tonight’s pre-season fixture against our neighbours Boston United will be just the 15th time the 2 clubs have met.

The Poachers will be hoping for a big crowd to help mark our 60th anniversary. It was when Boston United quit senior football in the summer of 1964 that our club first formed.

Here are some more facts and figures about the history of games between Boston Town and Boston United.

  • The Poachers have beaten the Pilgrims 3 times in the last 8 meetings
  • None of the 14 games has ever ended in a draw – so far
  • Every game has taken place at Tattershall Road – apart from one
  • In 1996 the 2 clubs met at York Street for the Mather Cup
  • The only time we’ve met in a competitive game was an FA Cup tie in 1970
