Poachers aim for 4th league win

Saturday’s last-gasp success against Heanor was the Poachers’ 3rd win in a row in the United Counties League Premier North division.

Martyn Bunce’s side will be aiming to make that 4 straight league victories at Newark Town on Wednesday.

If they manage to do so, it will be the first time they’ve started a season with 4 successive wins since 2007.

Going back to last season, the Poachers have also now won 8 consecutive league matches. The last time they had a longer run than that was again in 2007 when they reeled off 16 straight UCL fixtures between March and September, when Gary Bull and Paul Goodhand were in their pomp.

Add in the 2 FA Cup games against Northampton Sileby and Boston Town are unbeaten in 10 games in all competitions since their 1-0 home defeat against Melton Town in March.

The Poachers are also in fine form on the road at the moment.

Remarkably, they haven’t lost in 12 away matches since a defeat at Newark & Sherwood just before Christmas.
