🔍 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Heanor Town
Heanor Town have been enjoying a solid run of form despite falling short in the FA Vase quarter-finals at the weekend. With notable victories against second-placed Bourne Town and a draw against playoff contenders AFC Mansfield, the Lions have shown they can mix it with the best. Out of their nine games this year, they’ve lost just three – making them a tough test for the Poachers.

🔥 𝗢𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵
🔵 Boston Town:
⚽ Matt Cotton – New signing Cotton will be eager to make his highly anticipated debut. The forward will be hoping to create chances and maybe even find the back of the net!
⚡ Jordan Nuttell – Fresh off a standout display at Melton, the target man will be looking to dominate in the air once again and cause havoc for the Heanor defence.
🦁 Heanor Town:
🎯 Sacha Markelic – Heanor’s top scorer with 19 goals in 31 games, Markelic will be a key threat Boston must keep quiet.
🦁 John King – A vital player for Heanor with 38 appearances this season, King will be looking to make his mark going forward.
🗣 Manager’s thoughts – Chris Funnell
“We’re half way through a really tough four games and we’ve collected four points, both games being away and that’s no easy feat. 2 points-per-game is a good return and it’s why we’re top of the form chart in the last 6 matches and, why we’re top of the form chart since we’ve been together as a group. That’s over the course of 18 games now so it shows you what this group of players is about and what they can achieve.
Saturday we weren’t at our expected standards in the first half and deservedly trailed at the break, despite having some really good goal scoring opportunities in the first half. Second half was much more like us, we deservedly equalised through Macca’s thunderbolt and a draw was a fair result. On that note, the boys showed great character to come back and keep fighting, securing a vital point on the road because first half that outcome didn’t look likely.
It doesn’t get any easier though. Away at FA Vase Quarter-Finalists, Heanor Town. It’s not an easy place to go at the best of times and being a wounded animal, like they will be due to going out the Vase, it makes things even harder. We’ll welcome Matt Cotton into the fold this week, which is an added boost. However, we’ll be without Kallum Smith who has been ruled out through injury.
It’s another tough away game that we will need to be at our best to ensure have some points comes 5pm on Saturday.”
