Hereford await replay winners

Boston Town are tantalisingly close to a massive FA Cup 2nd qualifying round tie.

They will be at home to National League North side Hereford if they can beat Sporting Khalsa in their replay on Tuesday night.

Hereford’s Edgar Street ground was the scene of one of the most famous FA Cup giantkillings of all time in 1972.

That was when predecessor club Hereford United beat mighty Newcastle United with a memorable goal by Ronnie Radford.

The new Hereford FC formed in 2015 after United were wound up in the High Court with debts of about £1.3 million.

Although they’re a new club, they still play at the old Edgar Street ground and retain a big fan base, averaging crowds of 2,800 last season.

To secure a home tie against Hereford at the Mortgages For You Stadium on Saturday 13 September, the Poachers must overcome Northern Premier League Division One West Sporting Khalsa in their replay tomorrow (Tuesday 2 September). Kick-off is 7.45pm at Khalsa’s ground in the West Midlands.
