Record-breaking goal spree

Boston Town made club history as they crushed Blackstones 7-0 at the Mortgages For You Stadium.

The Poachers had also put seven past Wisbech Town at the same ground four days earlier.

When Jordan Tate slotted home the final goal of Saturday’s rout against Blackstones, it was the first time in the club’s 61-year history that they had scored seven goals twice in a row.

The closest they’ve come previously was when they beat S&L Corby 8-2 at home and then Buckingham Town 6-0 away in consecutive games in September 1999.

Other high-scoring victories in close proximity to each other include these three in September and October 1965:

Boston FC 11, Arnold Reserves 0
Boston FC 5, Nottingham Forest A 1
Crewton 1, Boston FC 6

In May 1966, Sutton Reserves were beaten 8-1 at home and 9-1 away in the space of four days – but there was a 1-1 draw against Kimberley Town in between.

Boston Town have also scored 15 goals in two successive games on a couple of other occasions.

The club record 12-1 win against Clay Cross MW in April 1966 followed a 3-1 victory against Heanor Reserves in the previous fixture.

The Poachers also had back-to-back thrashings of Wellingborough Town in October 2001, 10-0 away and then 5-1 at home.
