After Matt Cotton continued his remarkable run of goals on Saturday, club historian Simon Ashberry scoured the record books for similar scoring streaks.
When Matt Cotton netted twice against Melton Town at the weekend, it meant he’d scored in each of his last 7 appearances.
And that put him in illustrious company – only 3 other players have ever managed a better goalscoring streak in Boston Town’s 61-year history.

Harry Limb scored in 8 consecutive appearances between October and December only last season. That was the best run for the club by any player since Carl Smaller got on the scoresheet in 9 successive appearances in 1997-98.
Cotts has a long way to go to beat the club’s all-time record though.
In Boston FC’s first ever season, Colin Smith played 17 times from early October 1964 to early February 1965 and scored in every single match!
But Cotts’ sequence of scoring in 7 games in a row does put him ahead of many other legendary Poachers strikers.
Dave Scotney and Liam Harrold are next on the list, each having recorded goalscoring streaks of 6 matches.
Players who managed runs of 5 games include the likes of Gary Bull, Nick Mallinder, Martin Johnson, Mark Cox, Chris Cook and Dave Poplar.
