It’s coming home – to Boston Town!

Musicians from all over the world are coming together to create a new Boston Town anthem.

The song, called ‘To Be A Poacher’, has been written by Dave Holmes, who lives in Spain but is originally from Boston.

He has even recruited one of the musicians behind the number one hit ‘Three Lions’ to take part. Paul Hemmings was a member of the Lightning Seeds when they took the football world by storm in 1996 with the song co-written with comedians Frank Skinner and David Baddiel.

Dave was inspired to write the new Boston Town song by the book of the same name written by Simon Ashberry in 2021.

He plays in bands in Spain and has recorded his own demo of the song. But Dave wants to record a version that showcases the talents of people who are connected to Boston Town in some way as well as former Lightning Seeds musician Paul.

He’s signed up player-coach Kallum Smith, supporters’ group founder Paul Miles, long-time supporter Andy Sandall, who now lives in the USA, and singer Amy Wilkinson, whose Nuttell family have been involved with the club for several generations.

Dave said: “I’ve been increasingly impressed by the creative work of so many people connected to the club in recent years.

“Just think of Charlie Fytche’s post-match interviews with their slick audio-visual montage intros, his teaser video for our first new signing this season, plus there’s the new podcast, the 100 Club, the new supporters’ club and great photos by Josh Hallam ad Steve Davies.

“I felt compelled to step up and chip in myself with something that, with a bit of luck, might contribute to raising the profile of the club. So I thought, how many non-league clubs can boast their own song?

“Hopefully its collaborative nature will make it even more unique, and it will capture a few people’s imagination in the local media and on social media… and who knows, maybe even further afield!”
