Boston Town have another chance at the weekend to end the worst hoodoo in their history.
They’ve never beaten Grantham Town in any of their previous 16 meetings, a dismal record stretching back 60 years.
The Gingerbreads have won 14 of those games, with just two ending in draws – and those were both in the 1960s.

On Saturday (20 December), the Poachers travel to the South Kesteven Sports Stadium aiming to finally defeat their biggest bogey team.
They certainly go into the derby full of confidence, sitting top of the United Counties League Premier North table and unbeaten in 9 games since the end of October.
By contrast, fourth-placed Grantham will be smarting after suffering a shock 5-2 thumping at the hands of Step 6 side Gornal Athletic in the FA Vase last weekend.
Incredibly, the Poachers have only ever scored 3 times against Grantham since the sides first met in 1965. Their last goal was by Stu Park in an FA Cup defeat in 1989.
Since mustering two draws against Grantham in quick succession in December 1968 and January 1969, they’ve suffered a miserable sequence of 12 conseutive defeats.
The most recent was in October when the Gingerbreads edged a tense encounter at the Morgages For You Stadium, winning 1-0.
A big crowd is expected on Saturday for what is an eagerly anticipated festive derby. Grantham have an average attendance of more than 330 this season and that number should be swelled by a big away following from Boston.
Kick-off will be 3pm.
