Match report by Tom Carter

The Poachers came from behind to beat a decent Lutterworth side in their latest pre-aeason friendly.

Last weekend, the Poachers had a fantastic win against Keelby United, beating them 13-5. This weekend, they travelled to Leicestershire to face Lutterworth Town in another friendly with this one expected to be tougher.

The match began with Boston striker Harry Limb having a chance but the Lutterworth keeper made a great save, injuring himself in the process. 15 minutes into the game, Daire found the net for the home side when his header caught Travis Portas off his line.

The Poachers continued to create chances with Toby White, brother of Luke, having a shot but his effort went wide when it should’ve ended in a goal for the away side. Right on the half time whistle, Lutterworth had the ball in the net but it was controversially disallowed because of Limb being down for Boston. At half time, Lutterworth led 1-0.

The second half was a bright one for the Poachers - they continued to create chances and this time they paid off. In the 69th minute, Boston won a penalty when one of the host’s defenders handled the ball in the box. Harry Limb converted from the spot, slotting the ball to the right and equalising for Town. In the matter of 3 minutes, Toby White made it 2-1 to Boston, scoring from just outside the box and finding the bottom left corner.

The game had been turned around. Boston Town managed to hold on to the lead and a great performance resulted in a great 2-1 win. On Tuesday, the Poachers travel to Louth Town (6 July) for another pre-season friendly, kick-off 7.15pm.
