Harry Limb scored twice as the Poachers beat Horncastle Town in a pre season friendly.
After suffering a 4-0 defeat to Harrowby United last time out, Gary Edgley’s side were looking to get back to winning ways. This time, they made the short trip to Horncastle Town.
It didn’t take long for the Poachers to get in front as Boston’s in-form striker Harry Limb scored with only five minutes on the clock. After a ball passed through by Lee Beeson, Limb showed off some fancy footwork to trick the Horncastle keeper and eventually put the ball in the net.
Thirty-one minutes into the match, Boston still led 1-0. A few powerful long throws from Richard Ford found the feet of Jordan Tate, Limb and Beeson but all shot the ball over the bar. Towards the end of the half, Luke White hit the woodwork when his curling effort clipped the upper side of the cross bar. He also had a good chance cleared off the line by a Horncastle defender. At half-time, the Poachers led 1-0.
Early in the second half, Harry Limb tried an effort from long range but was tipped over the bar by the glove of the home side’s keeper. Horncastle won a penalty after one of their players went down. Their number 8 coolly slotted the ball into the bottom left-hand corner. Boston continued to create chances until the full-time whistle with some of the substitutes trying to make an impact on the game but with 18 minutes left, Harry Limb took the ball past the goalkeeper and put the Poachers back in front.
A good performance from the Horncastle Town keeper kept the home side in the game as it could have been game over at half time if Boston had converted their good opportunities into goals. Full-time was Horncastle Town 1-2 Boston Town.
