Welcome back to Long Eaton

Long Eaton United will be making their league visit to the DWB Stadium for more than 30 years this weekend.

The two clubs were rivals in the old Midland League from 1968 until it was disbanded in 1982.

We were then together in the Northern Counties East League for two seasons before being briefly reunited in the Central Midlands League in 1989-90.

The last time we entertained Long Eaton in a league match was in November 1989, when a Poachers side featuring the likes of Graham Cox, Steve Holmes, Scott Kent and Gary Goddard went down 1-0.

Since then we have played the Blues three times in cup ties, losing twice and winning once:

FA Cup
27 Aug 2005 – Long Eaton 4, Boston Town 2 (Nuttell, Collins)

FA Vase
17 Nov 2007 – Boston Town 2, Long Eaton 0 (Bull, Goodhand)
19 Oct 2013 – Long Eaton 2, Boston Town 0
