After two big nights off the pitch, Boston Town are ready to resume battle on it with four important games coming up.
Last week’s bonfire and fireworks display, followed by the success of our evening with Mark Crossley, showed the great potential of the club as a community organisation.
But now to football – and the fans have been starved of silverware for too long. This weekend’s UCL Cup tie against Cogenhoe is the first of a quartet of matches that could really shape this season.
Further progress in the league cup could be matched later this month when Martyn Bunce’s side travel to Winterton on Wednesday 23 November hoping to earn a place in the Lincs Senior Trophy semi-finals.
On top of that, the Poachers welcome 2 of the UCL’s big guns to the Mortgages For You Stadium – Melton Town (currently second in the table) on 19 November and Loughborough Students (league leaders) on 26 November.
That’s 3 crucial home games on 3 consecutive Saturdays.
Not so long ago, Boston Town fans might not have been too hopeful of getting much out of games against the top 2 in the division. But, building on the foundations laid by Gary Edgley, Bunny has forged a side made of stern stuff. And that gives supporters real belief. Put simply, this team never know when they’re beaten. At fancied Newark & Sherwood, they came from behind 3 times and then snatched a 94th minute winner. If that wasn’t enough – they only went and claimed another winner deep into stoppage time against AFC Mansfield last week, despite being down to 10 men.
This is a team who have made the town proud and deserve your support – so please come down and cheer them on over the next 3 Saturdays:
Saturday 12 November – Boston Town v Cogenhoe (UCL Cup, 2nd Round)
Saturday 19 November – Boston Town v Melton Town (UCL Premier North)
Saturday 26 November – Boston Town v Loughborough Students (UCL Premier North)
