Trophy final preview

Boston Town head into this week’s Lincolnshire Senior Trophy in buoyant mood after extending their unbeaten run to 11 games.

They take on Deeping Rangers on Wednesday, aiming to win their first silverware for 14 years.

Their barren spell goes back to 2008-09, when they won the same competition by beating Winterton Rangers on a memorable night at Lincoln City.

This year, the showpiece game takes place at Boston United’s Jakemans Community Stadium.

The Poachers are hoping plenty of neutrals and Pilgrims fans will come along to cheer them on.

Manager Martyn Bunce a popular figure in the wider footballing community and several members of his squad have strong connections with Boston United.

Jason Field, Jordan Tate, Liam Adams, Marshall Young and Jordan Nuttell are among those to have worn amber and black in their younger days, while Flynn Slater has been a regular for United’s Under 19s this season.

Boston Town historian Simon Ashberry said: “It’s the longest the club have ever gone without a trophy, so we’re desperate to win the final. It would be great to have a big turnout from other local football fans as well as our own loyal supporters.”

The Lincolnshire Senior Trophy final is ticket-only. You can buy tickets online right up to kick-off, which is 7.45pm.
