Another tough FA Cup draw

Boston Town have been drawn at home in the FA Cup to last season’s United Counties League Premier North champions Anstey Nomads.

They’ve since been promoted to the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands Division.

It’s the 2nd year in a row that Martyn Bunce’s side have faced Step 4 opponents in the Extra Preliminary Round.

The Boston Town v Anstey Nomads tie will take place on Saturday 5 August. The winners will be at home to Eastwood CFC or Kimberley MW in the Preliminary Round on Saturday 19 August.

It’s another tough draw for the Poachers, who have been knocked out at the first hurdle in the past 2 seasons.

Last year they held Step 4 side Harborough to a draw before losing in the replay and in 2021-22 they also took Sherwood Colliery to 2 games.

Despite the tough draw, Town will be hoping they can embark on another money-spinning run to match their achievements of 2017-18 – when they knocked out 3 higher-ranked clubs on their way to the 3rd qualifying round – and 2019-20.

In the FA Vase, Boston Town will be away to Blackstones in the 1st Qualifying Round on Saturday 26 August. The winners will be at home to Sandiacre Town or Hucknall Town in the 2nd Qualifying Round on Saturday 23 September.
