We kick off 2025 with another blast of nostalgia as part of our 60th anniversary season celebrations.

Following the memories of Doug Atter and Mick Daley, two more of our former Sheffield-based players look back at their time playing for Boston FC.
Pete Barker
What was your most memorable match playing for the club?
My most memorable match playing for the club was against Stafford Rangers who were the FA Trophy holders. We drew there, Mick Daley scored a stunning free-kick and took them back to Boston. Curly got injured and I went centre midfield and I think it was my best game for Boston. We beat them 2-1.

Any other favourite moments off the pitch?
I think Harry’s right – the togetherness we had was immense, that’s why we did so well.
Who was the best player you played with at Boston?
There were so many good players when I first played – I think Curly should have made it.
Harry Rhodes
What was your most memorable match playing for the club?
I have loads of favourite games. To be honest, my debut for Boston against Brigg stands out for me personally and also games against Alfreton away and Mossley (home and away) seem to stick out. At the time, Alfreton were big-time Charlies and I think we beat them.

Any other favourite moments off the pitch?
Off the pitch highlight was travelling with the boys to all the games.
Who was the best player you played with at Boston?
My favourite player was Curly – class – closely followed by Pete Barker, quality.
