Boston Town lost an away match for the first time since February, despite Zak Munton’s late goal.
After a promising start, the Poachers had to make an early substitution as Jordan Tate replaced Layton Maddison, who had previously received treatment after going down off the ball.
The hosts then went 1-0 up after 35 minutes with a far post header from a corner.
Carlton doubled their lead after 61 minutes but Munton gave the visitors a lifeline when he fired home four minutes from the end of the normal time.
