The last time we played Belper Town was a memorable FA Cup encounter 20 years ago.

The Poachers mounted a fine second half comeback in the first game at Belper Town’s ground to earn a replay against their high flying Northern Premier League hosts.

The Nailers had opened up a 2-0 lead with goals from Ross Hannah and Danny Hudson.

But the Poachers, who had seen both Gary Bull and Neal Spafford denied by the woodwork, reduced the arrears 11 minutes after the interval through a deflected Leigh Taylor goal.

Lori Borbely equalised with 20 minutes remaining after being put through one on one versus the keeper and slotting it home. Right at the end Shaun Baker almost won the contest for Boston.

Lori said: “I remember it well. I got absolutely piled on at the corner flag!”

In the replay three days later, the Poachers looked on the verge of a higher grade scalp when Bull’s volley put them ahead after 23 minutes.

But a well taken Hannah brace after 76 and 86 minutes won the contest for the visitors.

The two clubs previously met each other regularly from the 1960s to the 1980s, first as members of the Midland League and then the Northern Counties East League. Belper Town have been in the Norhern Premier League since 1997,
